Frequently Asked Questions
What are the advantages to attending an APU Preview event?
A lot of people tell us when they plan their visit to APU that they want to “do it all,” but often struggle to fit everything in. APU Preview is strategically designed to do just that! We want you to leave knowing more about APU and the college application process, while also seeing what it is like to be a student.
What meals are provided?
All meals are provided, from Thursday evening dinner through Saturday morning breakfast.
Where will I be housed?
All students will be housed with a current freshman in one of our four first-year residence halls. Our rooms do not come equipped with extra beds, so come prepared with your own sleeping bag, pillow, and maybe an air mattress.
Housing is not available for parents. Please view the listing of local accommodations.
I know a current student at APU; can I request to stay with him/her?
You may stay on campus with a friend, but we ask that you make those arrangements on your own. Upon checking in, please notify those assigning housing where and with whom you will be spending the night.
If I’m coming to APU Preview with a friend, can we request to stay together?
Yes, but we assign housing at check-in. We will do our best to meet your request, but we suggest arriving together and as early as possible. (Check-in starts at 5 p.m.)
What should I bring with me?
- Your sleeping bag and pillow (and air mattress if you prefer)
- Clothing for Friday and Saturday
- A notebook and pen to take notes
- Your Bible
- Some spending money
- A cell phone (especially if APU is picking you up from the airport)
Is airport transportation provided?
Transportation is provided for students traveling without their parents from/to Ontario International Airport. If you are traveling with your parents, rental cars and private taxi/shuttle services are available at the airport.
Should I bring my parents?
Absolutely! We encourage families to visit APU together. A separate parent track will promise to keep your parents busy while they experience APU in a way that is relevant to them.
Will I be able to meet with my admissions counselor?
Our admissions staff is dedicated to running APU Preview, so they are not available for formal appointments on these days.
However, your counselor will be around campus all day! Please say “hello” to them during APU 411.
Will I be able to meet with someone from Student Financial Services?
We will walk you through the financial aid process during the student and parent sessions. Admissions staff will also be available to answer any additional questions.
