Description

The University Libraries at Azusa Pacific University seek a creative, energetic and motivated leader with outstanding management skills and dedication to superior customer service to become the new Head of Instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the organization, operation and assessment of instruction services.
  • Provide leadership and coordination for instruction programs both on and off campus.
  • Maintain the University Libraries’ assessment plans, reports, and TaskStream portfolio.
  • Use presentation software to design and develop effective methods of library instruction, including online tutorials.
  • Identify and implement emerging technologies and incorporate the best practices into instruction services.
  • Network with faculty and administrators to promote information literacy instruction.
  • Provide opportunities for professional development for teaching librarians.
  • Provide research assistance at the reference desk, by way of digital reference, and by appointment.
  • Participate as an academic library faculty member, with assignments in liaison areas, reference, instruction, and collection development.

Level

This position offers full-time faculty rank. Salary is commensurate with experience and educational background. Excellent benefits.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited library and information studies program.
  • Preferred Education: Second Masters Degree in Humanities or Education is preferred.
  • Candidate must possess strong oral and written communication skills; a positive can-do attitude, exemplary service, planning, delegation and organizational skills; conflict management skills and teaching experience. The position also requires an understanding of automated integrated library systems, reference information sources in multiple formats and high proficiency in searching online databases.

Experience

Three to five years of professional and supervisory academic library experience.

Workload

This position will require evening and weekend hours. 12-month year-around contract.
