Description

Azusa Pacific University School of Nursing is seeking qualified candidates to apply for a faculty appointment with the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program prepares graduates to work respectfully and collaboratively with client consumers who are experiencing severe and or chronic mental illness to determine bio-psychosocial health care needs within a complex and changing environment. Theory and clinical coursework focus on assessment, intervention planning, application, and evaluation of advanced practice therapeutics in response to acute and chronic biologic and psychiatric mental health problems. The life span focus of the curriculum ranges from adolescence through geriatrics, and includes health promotion, illness prevention, the therapeutic alliance, health related policy, and the application of research and evidence based findings to professional practice. In keeping with the mission and philosophy of Azusa Pacific University and the School of Nursing, the inherent equality and worthiness of those who are vulnerable and disenfranchised, the role of spirituality in health, and the value of diversity are threaded throughout the program. Graduates will have completed the coursework required to apply for listing with the California Board of Registered Nursing as providers of psychiatric / mental health services and apply to the Board for a drug and / or devices furnishing number.

Responsibilities

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to curriculum and program development, teaching advanced practice psychiatric nursing theory and clinical courses, and student advising.

Level

Salary and rank will be commensurate with previous accomplishments and experience.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold a master’s degree in psychiatric and mental health nursing, national certification as an adult psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner, possess a Drug Enforcement Administration registration number, and listing with the California Board of Registered Nursing as a nurse practitioner with drug and devices furnishing authority.

Experience

Preference will be given to the candidate who has substantial experience in prescribing / furnishing medication to adolescent, adult, and geriatric clients.
