Description
The Department of Special Education invites applications for a 12-month part-time faculty position at the rank of lecturer. The department is seeking highly dedicated teachers and scholars who are committed to teaching in the 21st Century, and to the application of new technologies in teaching. The department is committed to the preparation of teacher candidates for life in a diverse and rapidly changing global society. Benefits are not available. Position subject to final funding.
Responsibilities
The focus of this position is on enrollment management and instruction. Candidates will recruit and advise students, engage in teaching courses in the Special Education Credential and Masters Degree Programs, and mentor teacher candidates. The candidate will have no responsibilities for scholarship.

Qualifications
- Must be able to articulate their Christian faith and be able to integrate their Christian faith with the discipline of special education in a manner consistent with the mission of the university.
- Applicants must have a doctoral degree. ABD will be considered.
- Must have a valid California Education Specialist K-12 Credential.
- Willingness to travel to Regional Center sites to recruit and advise students.
- Applicants with expertise related to working with diverse learners and issues of social justice and equity, and experience with new technology is highly desirable.
- The position requires that applicants are skilled in teaching at the graduate level, and evidence positive participation as a faculty team member.
- Desire to collaborate successfully with colleagues and contribute to the Special Education Department team.
Experience
- Higher Education teaching experience preferred
- Qualified candidate must have at least 5 years classroom experience in Special Education working in California P-12 schools
- Experience in mentoring/supervision of candidates in multi-cultural settings
- Experience with educational technology (both personal and in K-12 classrooms) required
Workload
12-month, part-time faculty.
