Description

The Department of Biology and Chemistry seeks candidates for a full-time faculty position with a specialization in the area of Anatomy with experience using cadavers in teaching. Responsibilities begin mid-August 2010. Academic rank and compensation will be based on degrees and experience. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled. The Department of Biology and Chemistry is composed of ten full-time biologists, four full-time chemists, additional adjunct faculty, and is supported by a staff of five full-time employees. There are over 400 students seeking and degrees in four majors: Applied Health, Biology, Biochemistry, and Chemistry.

Responsibilities

  • Teach lower-division lecture and lab courses in Anatomy, plus other lecture and/or lab courses within the candidate’s specialty.
  • Conduct research involving undergraduate students.
  • Participate in mentoring and academic advising of undergraduate students.
  • Participate in department and university affairs.

Level

Assistant/Associate Professor

Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in a biological science, DO, DPT, or MD
  • A commitment to teaching excellence in an undergraduate, liberal arts program
  • A willingness to conduct research in an undergraduate setting
  • A demonstrated, vibrant Christian faith compatible with the mission of Azusa Pacific University (Faculty members are required to sign a “Statement of Faith,” available at http://www.apu.edu/about/believe and to adhere to the policies outlined in the Faculty Handbook.)
