Pamela M. Christian, Ph.D., is a professor in the School of Education and chair of the Department of Doctoral Studies in Education. Her career in education includes leadership experience within both public and private universities, community college, and in partnership programs with K-12 education. Experienced in leading student groups abroad, she’s taught in Ghana, Alaska, Ethiopia, Egypt, Mexico, South Africa, and the Netherlands. She received the prestigious American Council on Education Fellowship Award, and participated in both the Harvard Institute for Management and Leadership in Education, and the Lakin Institute for Mentored Leadership. Her research interests include: leadership and mentoring; educational pipeline issues from K-12 and community colleges to higher education; technology in education; diversity; ethics; and the study of doctoral education. Christian formerly served eight years in the Office of the Provost at APU, initially as Special Assistant for University Diversity, followed by promotions to Assistant Provost, and Associate Provost. She developed and continues to teach courses in the Ethnic Studies Minor, in addition to the Doctoral Studies Program.
