Message from the Chair
Federal laws charge Institutional Review Board members with protecting human subjects in research projects. In social science research, there is much attention to protecting subject’s privacy and confidentiality. We drafted the IRB application to raise pertinent issues in protection of human subjects and to guide you in planning and documenting research procedures that address federal requirements.
The IRB members are mostly faculty who share your interests in preparing research proposals that meet guidelines and lead to prompt approval. We update the IRB Handbook and application annually to comply with current regulations and in response to your comments. Your feedback regarding the clarity and efficiency of IRB procedures will be helpful for future investigators.
