L.A. REGIONAL CENTER SAFE FROM FIRE
May 9, 2007

Update: May 9, 2007, 8:30 a.m.

Since daybreak, firefighters have mounted an assault to gain the upper hand on a wildfire in L.A.'s 4,200-acre Griffith Park. The blaze has charred at least 600 acres of trees and brush since yesterday afternoon. Roughly 600 firefighters and five water-dropping helicopters are on site to battle the fire. At one point, the Zoo and Observatory were threatened, while Dante's View has been destroyed.

The fire has not threatened APU's L.A. Regional Center in any way, though heavy smoke is apparent. The regional center remains open and classes will continue as scheduled.

None of the other regional centers nor the Azusa campus have been impacted. All campuses remain open with classes continuing as scheduled.

Please join us in prayer for the people affected by the fire, and the men and women fighting it.
