Do You Know What to Do in an Emergency?
July 25, 2008

From fires to hurricanes, natural disasters taking place throughout the United States remind us of the importance of preparing for emergency situations. The Incident Command Team wants to remind the APU community about the university’s emergency response procedures, posted online at www.apu.edu/response and in emergency brochures located throughout campus.

Do you know what to do if you’re asked to “shelter-in-place?” If not, campus lockdown/shelter-in-place instructions have recently been added to the list of procedures available at www.apu.edu/response/procedures/. Take time today to check them out.

Additionally, this spring marked the launch of the new Emergency Response Blog at www.apu.edu/response/blog/. In the event of a campus situation, the blog will be updated with information and instructions for the campus community. It is just one of several methods of communication the university will use in an emergency.

Stay tuned for more information on additional communication tools expected to be in place this fall.
