APD Conducts SWAT Training Today at APU
June 29, 2009

On Monday, June 29, from 1-5 p.m., the Azusa Police Department (APD) SWAT Team will conduct simulation exercises on Azusa Pacific University’s East Campus. APU's Campus Safety will participate in the training.

The training may include the following: armored vehicle(s), patrol car(s), searching movements, shouting, flash-bangs, and possibly training ammunition being utilized by the SWAT team members in a Shire court and in University Park.

The areas impacted by the training will be clearly marked by tape. The community is asked not to interfere in the training as it unfolds.

Promoting a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, and staff remains a top priority. This collaborative training takes the campus one step further in its readiness should a crisis strike. We appreciate not only APD’s commitment to excellence and preparation, but their desire to hone their skills on our campus. The benefit to both teams in the long run is significant.
