Morris Fire Update for Fri., Aug. 28
August 28, 2009

The Morris Fire is currently at 60 percent containment and has burned 2,000 acres. However, the Station Fire, which broke out Wednesday in the Angeles National Forest near La Cañada Flintridge, has burned 1,200 acres and is at 0 percent containment. Evacuations have been ordered in areas where homes are threatened.

While air quality appears to have improved and is currently listed as "moderate" by the South Coast Air Quality Management District, it remains unhealthy for sensitive groups. We encourage you to continue to take precautions to protect your health and the health of your employees and students. Fortips on avoiding health impacts from smoke, visit http://www.aqmd.gov/ej/CAC/wildfire_safety_tips.htm.

We will continue to monitor the health advisories and unless the air quality situation worsens, Saturday's soccer games will take place on campus. Any changes to the schedule or location will be posted on the APU Athletics website.
