Fire Update - Sat., Sept. 5
September 5, 2009

To date, the Station Fire has burned nearly 155,000 acres and is currently at 42 percent containment. Improved weather conditions have helped firefighters gain ground, and yesterday crews set a controlled backfire north of Arcadia to clear brush and create fire breaks.

A community meeting was held in Azusa Friday night to discuss the fire, which is moving southeast, to prepare those living in the foothill communities in the event that the fire moves closer. The APU campus is NOT in any danger.

Air quality has improved in some areas, but an advisory remains in effect for those with sensitivies.

APU's football game and Orientation activities are continuing as scheduled. We will begin posting fewer updates on this blog unless the fire or smoke moves further east or begins to impact the APU campus in some way.
