Small Roof Fire at Admin West Contained

Thursday, March 13, 2008, 8:30 a.m.

Last night, around 9:30 p.m., a small, isolated roof fire broke out in the northwest corner of the Administration West building over Accounts Payable. Azusa Police Department officers saw the fire and called emergency responders right away. APU’s own Facilities Management team responded within minutes as well.

No structural damage to the building occurred, only minor smoke and water damage. For safe measure, and while clean up is taking place, the employees in the immediate area will be relocated for a few days.

The other areas within Admin West have not been impacted and remain open. We are grateful for the quick work of the Azusa police and fire departments, as well as Facilities Management, to effectively contain this fire and protect university property.
