About This Major

Why This Major Is Relevant

As world economies are becoming increasingly elaborate and interrelated, the recent economic downturn has brought to light the grave consequences of bad decisions in financial, real estate, and stock markets. The ability to understand the dynamics at play in a complex social, political, and economic environment is a challenge for governmental, business, and religious organizations. APU’s economics degree uniquely prepares graduates to meet this challenge and take advantage of ample job opportunities, generous compensation, and significant advancement potential.

“In all recorded history there has not been one economist who has had to worry about where the next meal would come from.”
– Peter Drucker

Gain In-Depth Learning Experiences

APU business faculty remain connected to businesses in their areas of expertise, and often provide internship contacts for business economics students. Additionally, the School of Business offers multiple venues for resume-building, such as Students in Free Enterprise, Winter Family Fiesta, and the Council for Business Students. These provide practical opportunities to apply classroom learning and ensure that business economics students graduate with significant experience on their resumes.

For those who wish to complete an MBA immediately upon graduation, the School of Business offers the Young Executive MBA Program, a rigorous, internship-based MBA program that allows students to complete their master’s degree in one additional year.
