The Seven, with Corrie Loeffler, cinema and broadcast arts major

1.

Have you always been a Jeopardy fan?

Well, for as long as I can remember. It was kind of a family thing. When I was young, we didn't have a television, but we would go over to my grandparents' house to watch it. Then when we got a television and VCR when I was in middle school, my mom would tape Jeopardy since it was on during dinner time, and we'd all watch it together.

2.

Who has had the biggest impact on your life?

This is a two-part answer. First, my mom: I was home schooled by her until high school, and she really instilled a work ethic in my life and gave me a strong Christian foundation. Second, Monica Ganas, Ph.D., associate professor of communication studies: She has inspired me through her classes, her directing, and her life. She has shown me exactly why I need to be at this school.

3.

How did you prepare for the Jeopardy College Championship?

There really isn't any way to. I watched the show, and that's about it. Since you have no idea what categories you'll get, it's pretty pointless to try to study. You just have to trust in what you know!

4.

How has God revealed Himself to you during your years at APU?

He revealed Himself most strongly while I was at Oxford. Being able to attend many high church services and being so far away from any regulatory or mandated worship allowed me to personalize my relationship and become independent in my faith. The traditions that are so prevalent in the high church culture caused me to understand God's holiness in a way I never had before.

5.

What author's work do you love to read?

Hesse, Austen, Sedaris, Hornby, Palahniuk, Baum, Fitzgerald, I could go on forever! I guess if I had to pick one author's works to take with me on a desert island, however, it would have to be George Eliot.

6.

What college course taught you the most?

Two-part answer again. “British Film” taught me that I love film history and criticism enough to spend my life on it. Second, “Christianity and the Creative Process” is teaching me (through quite a strenuous process) that I am creative, how to take care of my creativity, and how creativity is an inextricable aspect of Christianity.

7.

Do you like Alex with or without the mustache?

With on television, because the makeup makes it look like he has no lips. But it's fine without in person when he doesn't have the makeup on.

Corrie participated in the 2002 Jeopardy College Championship where she advanced to the semi-finals. She is a junior cinema and broadcast arts major. After graduation, she plans to pursue a doctorate in film, then become a professor of the same subject.
