How many units are in this program?
The M.A.T.F requires 48 units. The M.A.C.E., M.A.P.S., and M.A.T.S Programs each require 60 units, the M.Div. requires 90 units, and the D.Min. requires 36 units.
How much does the program cost?
The D.Min. costs $390 per unit. All other programs are $385 per unit.
How many units do I take each quarter/semester?
While there are no minimum or maximum unit requirements, 9 units is considered a full-time schedule.
How long is a semester?
While the M.A.C.E. Program offers 9-week sessions, semesters generally run for 15 weeks.
How many hours does each class session require?
Both once a week classes, which last for 4 hours and 15 minutes, and twice a week classes, which run for 2 hours each, are available.
How many students will there be in my classes?
Most classes will average between 15-18 students.
How many evenings per week do I attend classes?
Classes usually meet once a week, but some are offered twice a week.
Does this program require a thesis, dissertation, or capstone project?
A student’s philosophy of ministry will serve as their master’s thesis.
What is the description of the average student in this program?
The various programs offered within HGST cater to a diverse variety of individuals
with one common goal: the desire to pursue professional ministry.
- D.Min.: Ideal for pastors with an M.Div. and ministry experience
- M.Div.: Geared toward the pastor seeking ordination and possibly interested in a D.Min.
- M.A.C.E.: Tailored with youth ministers, youth workers, education pastors, and Christian education workers in mind.
- M.A.T.S.: The typical M.A.T.S. student has a B.A. in Bible and is interested in a Ph.D. in Bible or theology.
- M.A.P.S.: The M.A.P.S. Program is for pastors or lay pastors looking to further their ministry skills. Concentrations include church leadership and development, urban studies, worship leadership, and youth ministry.
- M.A.T.F.: The M.A.T.F. is designed for every type of ministry leader: community professionals, businessmen and women, volunteers, church staff, and pastors.
How soon can I finish this program?
The M.Div. can be completed within 3½ to 4 years.
The M.A.C.E., M.A.P.S., and M.A.T.S. Programs can be completed within 2½ to 3 years. (If done on a full-time basis, the M.A.T.S. can be completed within 2 years.)
The M.A.T.F. can be completed within 2 years.
The D.Min. can be completed within 3 years.
