APU First Ethics Bowl Team - intercollegiate competition

Posted: December 14, 2011

The Ethics Bowl team formed this semester from a philosophy seminar class taught by Rico Vitz, a first year associtate professor of Philosophy.  Vitz pitched the idea of competing at the IEB to his seminar class.

Three goals set; three goals achieved ... in order of importance:

1. MANIFEST CHRIST-LIKE VIRTUES in all of our interactions with hosts, organizers, judges, other teams, and one another.

2. MANIFEST INTELLECTUAL VIRTUES by presenting excellent cases, making excellent counter arguments, and offering excellent replies to our opponents' objections.

3. WIN, at least, two of the three morning rounds to put us in contention for a spot at nationals. (Defeated UC-Santa Barbra and CSU-Chico; lost to UC-Santa Cruz)
