Message from the Dean
APU’s Undergraduate Division of Religion and Philosophy gathers some of the world’s most brilliant and driven men and women with the common goal of spreading the Gospel throughout the nations. This community of faithful scholars constitutes a vast array of religious backgrounds, ethnic origins, life experiences, and ideas about what 21st century service and ministry should look like, but one thing remains constant: our teaching and learning stands on the firm foundation of our Wesleyan heritage and embraces the future of God’s ever-changing Kingdom.
Each of the five majors, nine minors, and two certificate programs offers a dynamic environment for the training of pastors, missionaries, and Christian workers in every field as they seek to answer their calling in creative and culturally relevant ways. At APU, we recognize the God-given gifts and individuality of each student and the value of those unique characteristics in both the education process and the development of innovative ministry opportunities. From the moment you step on campus to the day you graduate and beyond, we dedicate ourselves to preparing you with sound theology, challenging you to think critically and act compassionately, and immersing you in worship and service.
Our hope is that as you delve into the study of the Scriptures and discover the complexities of humanity and God’s truth, you will experience a personal transformation that will ready you for a lifetime of learning and serving.
Welcome!
Sincerely,
Russell Duke, Ph.D.
Acting Dean, School of Theology
