Overview

APU’s biblical studies major provides a rigorous academic foundation for Christian belief. The program begins with academic study of the Bible, its history, and doctrines of the ancient and contemporary church. Students learn to think critically about the Scriptures, using the tools of experience, reason and tradition. Introductory and advanced philosophy coursework broadens students’ understanding of the world by introducing current and historical interpretations of self, the world, and God. These biblical and philosophical perspectives then serve as the context for study of how theology, faith, and scriptural knowledge play out in the Christian life and practical ministry. Biblical Studies majors leave APU with a greater understanding of the Bible and how it applies to today’s world.
