Judith Liu is professor of sociology at the
University of San Diego where she teaches theory and
gender courses. Her research interests include
missionary education in China, multicultural education
in the United States, and pedagogy. She is the recipient
of several teaching excellence awards, including the
Council for the Advancement and Support of Education's
California Professor of the Year for 1991.
She has coauthored articles on women and HIV/AIDS, comparative
education in the People's Republic of China, and critical pedagogy.
She has coauthored The Ethnographic Eye: Interpretive Studies
of Education in China (2000) and co-edited Contested Terrain:
Diversity, Writing, and Knowlege.
