From selecting a graduate school to searching for jobs and internships, APU’s Center for Career and Community-Engaged Learning offers career development services and resources to help students and alumni prepare for the next step in their vocational journey. Have your résumé or LinkedIn profile reviewed, take a career assessment, or get help on your graduate school application.
Through APU’s career network, Handshake, both students and alumni can connect with businesses and organizations for jobs and internships, as well as network with other Cougars in their industry.
By the Numbers
The APU Center for Career and Community-Engaged Learning provides career development resources, workshops, events, and information to support students and alumni in their professional endeavors. Whether you’re preparing for an interview or need help setting up your LinkedIn account, the center staff aims to help you thrive in your career pursuits.
Handshake
Handshake is APU’s career network for all students (undergraduate, graduate, and professional) and alumni to connect with businesses and organizations for jobs and internships, as well as book appointments at the center.
To access your Handshake account for the first time, use your APU Home portal sign-in information. For more information or help setting up your account, email [email protected].

Alumni
In order to support students beyond the undergraduate experience, the center provides multiple resources for alumni to make connections within their industry and the APU community.
- Handshake: We are excited to announce that Handshake is now open to all alumni. Use this platform to find resources for professional development, view our events calendar, and connect with other alumni.
- APU Connect: This alumni network allows you to reconnect with old classmates and utilize the trusted Azusa Pacific environment to expand your professional network.
Community Advancement Programs
Community Advancement Programs (CAP) are federal work-study programs that exist to provide student staff, community partners, families, and community members with resources to help meet community needs and improve the quality of life for local residents. CAPs support Azusa Pacific’s civic engagement goals by bringing together local and university resources to serve and empower the community through sustainable education programs. To learn more about CAPs, contact the Office of Community Advancement.
Faculty and staff may request in-person or digital/video workshops through completing the Career Collaboration Request form.

The center supports students and alumni by providing regular opportunities to connect with employers in broad and varying fields. Through career, internship, and camp fairs, employers and students can expand their network and benefit from mutual growth.

Post an Internship or Job
The Handshake online platform is designed to inform students and alumni of job openings within your organization. For the best results, it’s important that job and internship listings are kept up to date. To set up or manage your profile, follow these steps:
- Go to app.joinhandshake.com.
- If you have an established account, you can log in on the top right. If not, please register.
- Complete or update your company profile and contact information.
- Upon approval by the center, you can post, edit, close, or repost jobs available in your organization. You can also receive online applications and request résumés directly through the platform.

Note: It can take up to 48 hours for your employer profile to be reviewed, and an additional 48 hours for your position to post on Handshake. If any information is missing or unclear, a representative from our office will contact you for additional details.
