Thanksgiving in the Park

Each year, as the semester begins to wind down, Azusa Pacific University students, faculty, and staff anticipate the Thanksgiving break. In line with tradition, most students embrace the holiday feast alongside family and friends. However, this year 18 students and staff joined in APU’s first Thanksgiving in the Park, sponsored by the Office of Residence Life.

“It was great to have a place to celebrate the holiday when I wasn’t able to make the trip home,” senior Communication Studies major Tracy Prouty said. “We were all so grateful to have a place to go, where it felt like family.”

The evening was designed to facilitate community among the students who were on or around campus during the holiday. Jonny Liu, resident director of University Park, prepared the Thanksgiving meal for the guests. Amidst the turkey, stuffing, and sweet potatoes, students were also filled with a common understanding of what it meant to be thankful in a home away from home.
