SIE/A.I.M. Holds Japanese Cultural Showcase

by Mandy Welch '04

The School of Intensive English (SIE) in conjunction with the American and International Mentoring Program (A.I.M.) hosted a Japanese Cultural Showcase on May 9. Donovan Gray, DMA, associate professor of music, and his wife, Lana hosted the event coordinated primarily by Hitomi Matsumoto, an SIE student who will be joining the Teaching English to Students of Other Languages Program in the fall.

The event featured dramatic presentations, calligraphy and origami lessons, readings, a song presentation, and food. It was designed to help educate others in the cultures of international students. There will be more cultural showcases held throughout the summer on the second Thursday of every month. Next month's cultural showcase will exhibit the Taiwanese culture.
