Cyrano de Bergerac-- First Production of the 2002/03 School Year
Rehearsal began August 12, 2002 for the first play of the upcoming academic school year. The lead actors are hard at work learning lines, blocking, and getting prepared for their first performance. Monica Ganas, Ph.D., assistant professor of the Department of Communications Studies, will be directing this play as the second she has done at APU.
“The cast is really excellent,” said Ganas. “They’ve been working so hard for this. The leads are here a week early because the other cast members take their cues from these guys.”
“The reason that I chose this play is because I feel that it speaks pretty heavily to Christianity and culture—a romantic view in a realistic world,” said Ganas. “I want to recapture romantic spirit in an age of realism. Appearances can ultimately be misleading and that can be harmful in a world driven by physical appearances.”
Cyrano de Bergerac opens September 12. There will be shows September 12-14, 20-21.
