Okay, so summer is coming to an end, and you want to get out and do something fun. But what is there to do? Here are some ideas sure to eliminate summer boredom, and since you’re on a college budget, all of them are free or fairly low cost.
Much to the excitement of many APU students, Ikea (directions) recently opened a store in Covina across from the Eastland Shopping Center (near Target and BJ’s Restaurant). This store is filled with cool room setups and reasonably priced home improvement goods. It’s easy to spend hours in Ikea without spending much money.
One of the best places to go when you're bored is the 24-hour Wal-Mart (directions) in Glendora. Wal-Mart carries a large variety of products for real cheap. Plus, you can get toothpaste, a DVD, or shoes at 2 a.m.
Nickel, Nickel (directions) in West Covina is another grand place to go with friends for a good time, especially for arcade game fans. Pay $3 to get in and then enjoy the arcade games for only a nickel each. They also have your favorite classic games for free play (which is included in the cover charge).
Well, with all this running amok, you are bound to build an appetite, but where can a person get delicious, quality food for a really low price? What about In-N-Out Burger (directions)? For about $5, you can get a double cheeseburger, fries, and a drink. And for dessert? Nana’s Ice Creamery (directions) on Azusa Avenue serves homemade ice cream and offers it to students at a discounted price.
So why not get to know the city you call home, before it's time to buckle down and start school? And if you're not local, don't waste the rest of your summer sitting around waiting to come back. Have fun!
