Describe your career and relate how APU helped you succeed.

This career is a constant hustle. It took me a few years to get my foot in the door and I'm still learning and growing! I rely on many of the connections I made while at APU, both faculty and fellow students, and I don’t take them for granted.

What was the most meaningful experience you had at APU?

Touring Germany and Austria with the APU Chamber Singers in 2013 was definitely a big highlight for me. Being able to do something I love in places with such rich musical history was an unforgettable experience.

Why did you choose to study your particular major?

I learned quickly that I enjoyed recording and crafting vocals in a studio setting. Getting a broad knowledge of audio, arranging and business knowhow within the Commercial Music degree was helpful to get me started!

How has your Christian-based college education impacted your career?

In my career, I carry many Christian values that I cultivated at APU: work ethic, humility and honesty. Talent is important in this industry, but without those fundamental character pieces you won't last long.

If you could give a word of advice to future and current students, what would it be?

As a musician in this industry you need to have talent first and foremost. Hone those skills and keep improving. In addition to talent, skills like musicianship, good work ethic, humility, and drive are SO important. Without those you won't get far. I'm forever thankful for the knowledge I learned in various theory, musicianship and audio production courses. I use those skills every single day. Pay attention and keep learning!

Please describe any charity or volunteer work you've done.

I've lent my time and efforts for various charity events including Not Impossible Awards, The Neighborhood Music School Annual Gala and a number of personal projects for people and ensembles.
