Professor Don Neufeld - 49 years of service

Professor Don Neufeld has been an APU music faculty member since 1972. He served as interim dean of the School of Music in 1998, and then again from 2010-2013. He has arranged and composed music for various university ensembles and serves as a consultant and resource for churches and musical organizations.

His teaching assignments in the area of Music Theory have included undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory, counterpoint, orchestration, arranging, and form and analysis. He has also taught all of the Techniques courses (woodwinds, brass, percussion, and strings) in the Music Education program.

His achievements as an arranger and orchestrator has gained him national and international recognition and have been performed in many venues including the International Church Music Festival in Oberammergau, Germany (conducted by Sir David Wilcox), the Segerstrom Center in Orange County, live recordings in London England for the Adoration Series recordings of Choral Masterworks, and literally hundreds of performances by the University Choir and Orchestra.

Don has also been highly active as a music producer and has produced or co-produced many of the nationally distributed recordings of the University Choir and Orchestra. His love of teaching is evident in the high praise of his students. Don’s legacy will continue many years beyond his retirement.

Don has been awarded the status of Professor Emeritus.
