Biography

Anupama Jacob, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Social Work and APU’s director of student research (undergraduate and graduate). She was APU’s interim director of undergraduate research in fall 2019, and was a commissioner for six years on the Commission on Research, part of the Council on Social Work Education, the national accrediting body for the social work profession. She teaches applied research in the undergraduate and graduate social work programs at APU. Her research interests center on issues related to poverty and inequality, particularly in the United States. Prior to starting her PhD program, Jacob worked as publications manager at the Center for Social Development, a research and policy center based at Washington University in St. Louis. In addition to her work at APU, she’s a board member of a local Christian nonprofit organization that provides resources and services to families in need.
