Shawna L. Nist, PhD, CF-LSP, is an associate professor in the Department of Leadership and Organizational Psychology. Prior to joining the department, she served in APU’s Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment for 8 years as the director of curricular effectiveness, giving leadership to the academic and cocurricular assessment and program review efforts. With a passion for teaching and learning, she continues to lead APU's Designing Significant Learning Experiences Institute and resources APU's Facebook Faculty Community Network. In 2021, Nist was selected for the APU Faculty Uncommon Citizen Award.

A native of Canada and now a U.S. citizen, she founded the Christian Higher Education Enrollment Association of Canada and the Canadian Christian College Tour, for which she was nominated twice as one of the “Top 40, Under 40” leaders in Canada and given a full scholarship for her Ph.D. studies. With expertise in leadership studies, gender and leadership, spiritual formation, teaching and learning, and conflict management, Nist primarily teaches in the Master of Arts in Leadership program.
