Inspired by Humans of New York, a photo blog by Brandon Stanton, Humans of the Street was born. This project’s main goal is to break stereotypes of those who live on the street by creating a photo blog. This collection includes direct quotes from the subjects about their journey throughout life, and stories about how they became homeless. This project shows that there are indeed homeless people who fit the stereotypes but many more who don’t. As the project continues, our hope is to draw attention away from these stereotypes and to rebuild the image of what it means to be homeless.
