After attending the study away program in Israel this past summer, we gained many insights about the Holy Land and its people, and specifically about Israel’s multiethnic identity. One of the fascinating things about Israel is that many people go there from all over the world, making it extremely diverse. There can be an assumption that Jewish people are only European, but this is not the case, with Jewish citizens also coming from Ethiopia, Russia, Argentina, Morocco, and the U.S., to name a few. This example of diversity is helpful for the global world, and specifically for the APU community as another model from which to glean in its efforts to live out the Cornerstones of the university.
