Join us for an exciting educator workshop with Dr. Tom Andrews! Learn how to use primary sources to move beyond the California mission project.

The first 36 people to register will receive a free copy of the curriculum New Perspectives on the California Missions, from The National Center for History in the Schools at UCLA.

The new California history/social studies framework calls for a broader cultural understanding of the history of the missions—including their impact on the Native Americans—and the use of primary sources.

Dr. Andrews will instruct teachers on how to move beyond the mission projects that have long been a hallmark of these lessons and into a deeper examination of the missions' societal and cultural effects.

Tour Special Collections and view primary sources related to the missions and Azusa, Duarte, and Pomona ranchos.

Geared toward 4th–11th grade teachers, but all are welcome.

Professional development certificates available on request.
