The church can be a help or a hindrance to its members with emotional issues, depending on its stance. Emotional care ministries (which are NOT church counseling programs) can greatly enhance the lives of congregations. This online session will discuss how to start and sustain caring congregational groups made up of ministers, laity, mental health professionals and peers. This interactive presentation has a cultural humility component, in that it will discuss how to culturally tailor emotional care activities to one's particular culture and denomination. The presenter, as the director of the Psychological Social and Resource Ministry within her own diocese, will provide real-world practical examples.
