Faculty Artists Concert: in Memory of the 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami in Northern Japan

APU cello faculty Marek Szpakiewicz, who has been described by Yo-Yo Ma as an artist whose “energy, motivation, earnestness and generosity of spirit are evident through his work” performs with renowned guest pianist Jiayi Shi.

This recital is in memory of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Northern Japan, and is meant to help children in Fukushima, Japan.

A reception will follow the recital. Donations are greatly appreciated and will go towards the purchase of a 1/4-sized cello to be donated for the Soma Children's Orchestra in Fukushima.

Bernstein: Clarinet Sonata (arranged by M. Szpakiewicz for cello and piano)

Franck: Cello Sonata in A major

Chopin: Ballade No.1 in G minor (arranged by M. Szpakiewicz for cello and piano)
