The World Needs Discipline-Based Faith Integration Scholars and Scholarship

Monday, April 6, 2020, 9:1510:30 a.m.

Scholarship informed by the Christian faith is a rich and enriching 2,000-year-old tradition. And it is true that the effort required to create such scholarship is weighty. But the reasons and rewards for work such as this are significant. It is humbling and exciting that as APU faculty we can join this tradition by making meaningful contributions, informed by faith, to humanity’s perennial questions and the big challenges that are particular to our time. In this session, Paul Kaak, executive director of APU’s Office of Faith Integration, offers a theological vision for why Christian scholars from across all disciplines, professions, and the arts should pursue faith integration scholarship as one element of their research agenda. He unpacks the variety of opportunities for Christian scholars to make a difference through their work, as well as practical ways to make research and writing an enriching spiritual pilgrimage.
