“The Book As Text and Artifact,” A Special Collections Exhibit

Monday, February 13, 2023–Monday, May 8

Posted by: University Libraries

The University Libraries Special Collections presents an exhibit called, The Book As Text and Artifact. It traces the role of written text from the scribal hand through to the codex and into digital formats that are creating new reading platforms and artifacts that, like the codex before them, strive for an aesthetic of beauty. This beauty is part of the finely printed books on display, as well as demonstrated by the Inklings, whose work is featured to showcase the written, textual act, and its ability to draw the readers eye to new imagined understandings.

This special collections exhibit is on display in the Darling Library Rotunda from February 13, 2023 - May 8, 2023. It is free and open to the public during regular library hours.
