Biography

Rita M. Van Dyke-Kao, M.A. TESOL, has a passion for teaching the intricacies of the English language to students from all over the world. She is currently an instructor at the American Language and Culture Institute (ALCI), where she helps international students gain communication skills in English to prepare them for further study and to better their lives. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Trinity Western (Langley, Canada) and a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Azusa Pacific. She spent two years teaching English at the university level in Hangzhou, China, and one year teaching English at the primary level in Incheon, South Korea. She has also taught English in Quebec, British Columbia, and Burma. Her research interests include pronunciation methodology and the relationship between technology and motivation in second language acquisition.
