Message from the Interim Dean
Pursuing a university education is one of the most important decisions you can make. It shapes your understanding of the world and it lays the foundation for future personal and professional success. That is why the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) takes seriously its mission: to cultivate academic programs of excellence, to foster a culture of scholarship for faculty and students, and to prepare students for advanced study, civic engagement, and a well-lived life.
We know that the best education, valued by graduates and employers alike, is one in which students are prepared to think deeply, critically, and creatively about complex problems and are provided opportunities to apply this understanding to solving real problems. In addition to providing undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs in the humanities, STEM, and social sciences, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is home to two university centers formed specifically for these purposes: The Center for Research in Science and the Center for Public Affairs.
No matter the degree, major, or concentration area, students who pursue a degree in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will find that their preparation will serve them well—not just for the next step, but for life.
With warmest regards,
Denise Edwards-Neff, Ph.D., APR
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
