Mia Long Anderson, Ph.D., is the graduate program director of the M.A. in Strategic Communication program and an associate professor in the Department of Communication Studies, where she teaches public relations and strategic communication courses.

Her research interests include communication and race, communication and sport, and the intersection of sport, communication and race. Her scholarship has been presented at annual meetings of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the International Association for Communication and Sport, the International Communication Association, and the National Communication Association. Her work has been published in Communication Teacher, the Journal of African American Studies, the Journal of Contemporary Athletics, and the Journal of Sports Media.

Dr. Anderson has served in the public relations departments of collegiate and professional sports organizations. She earned a Ph.D. in Communication and Information Sciences (Advertising & Public Relations, Media History) at The University of Alabama, a master's degree in Communication at the University of Tennessee, and an A.B.J. in Advertising from the University of Georgia. Dr. Anderson is a member of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and the Orange County Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
