Dear Parents and Families,
Now that most of your students have transitioned home, I wanted to touch base to underscore the importance of everyone heeding the advice of state, county, and public health agencies around maintaining social distancing and only leaving home for essential needs.
To date, no confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Azusa or on the APU Azusa or Regional Campuses. However, as we diligently work with our governmental and public health partners to minimize the risks from COVID-19, we want to share any information that helps our community remain diligent in our efforts to curb the spread of this virus.
Although there is no indication of transmission in the APU community, it has been brought to my attention that an APU alum, who lives off campus in Glendora with current APU students, has been diagnosed with COVID-19. Based on the information supplied to us at this time, we believe we have identified limited contact with campus individuals. The APU roommates and known close contacts have been notified and recommended for appropriate evaluation.
APU is also working with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to identify any more potential contacts. Those who have had contact but are not experiencing any symptoms, will be asked to quarantine, as outlined in the instructions from the Los Angeles County Public Health Department. Those who are experiencing symptoms, should follow these home care instructions. All other situations will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
