Undergraduate Students: Services to Support You This Fall (7-29-20)

Dear Students,

We hope you are staying well during this unprecedented season. We recognize that the world’s global health crisis and country’s racial and social unrest have brought a complex set of physical and emotional challenges to our institution and our lives. To navigate these difficult times, invest in your health and wellness, and foster a sense of belonging in our community, we want to provide tools that encourage your well-being and support you reaching your academic and personal potential. Consequently, APU faculty and staff are working hard to provide Christ-centered support services, programs, and educational opportunities in remote settings to help you thrive academically, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.

Here are a few updates regarding services, as we anticipate our semester together:

Health and Wellness

Student Health Center (SHC)

The SHC is open and available to support student health and safety. In-person appointments for COVID-19 testing are available at a reduced cost. Telehealth appointments, as well as regular in-person primary care health appointments, will be available.

All undergraduate students are automatically enrolled in our student health insurance plan, and this coverage will not change as we move to remote learning. If you live out of state, you can still seek services using your student health insurance plan. Students who wish to request a waiver from the student insurance plan may do so at Health Insurance - Student Health Center.

University Counseling Center (UCC)

The UCC offers resources to support your emotional health. Ongoing individual, couples, and group sessions are offered through teletherapy appointments, and we offer immediate crisis care over the phone as needed. Please look for an email invitation soon to participate in APU's Mental Well-Being course to gain helpful tools to better care for yourself and others so that you may thrive during this challenging time.

Accessibility and Disability Resources (ADR)

ADR engages in an interactive process with each student to discuss and determine disability-related accommodations within all learning environments. Incoming and current students may contact ADR at any time during the year to discuss the need for accommodations or adjustments to current accommodations.
