Dear Students and Families,
We are pleased to share with you our ongoing commitment to honor the Class of 2020. It was our best intention to hold Commencement ceremonies for our May 2020 and December 2020 graduates in person this December. However, consistent with close monitoring and partnership with local and statewide COVID-19 public health guidelines and directives for Los Angeles County, it seems most likely that large-scale events and mass gatherings will still not be allowed. Keeping our commitment to honor and celebrate the Class of 2020 graduates in the best and safest way possible, and enable planning for students and families, we will hold four distinct Virtual Commencements in December. This will include a full ceremony for each of the graduating classes of 2020.
The 2020 Virtual Commencement schedule is as follows:
- Saturday, December 12, 10 a.m.: Undergraduate and Professional Class of May 2020
- Saturday, December 12, 1 p.m.: Graduate Class of May 2020
- Saturday, December 19, 10 a.m.: Undergraduate and Professional Class of December 2020
- Saturday, December 19, 1 p.m.: Graduate Class of December 2020
Students will receive an email to their APU email address titled, “Participation in Virtual Commencement 2020.” This will include a link to attach a photo and additional information. The response deadline is October 12 for May 2020 graduates and October 26 for December 2020 graduates. Your response is needed to be included in the Virtual Commencement ceremony.
If you are unable to attend the livestream, the recording of the Virtual Commencements will be available on the APU Commencement website. For more information and continued updates, please visit the Commencement website.
Although we deeply wish we could be together in person, we look forward to celebrating this significant milestone and accomplishment in a special and meaningful way, virtually, this December!
With best personal regards,
Paul W. Ferguson, Ph.D., DABT, President
