Return to Campus Update: Face-Covering Mandate Reinstated

Dear APU Community,

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) announced earlier this week the reinstatement of a county-wide requirement that all persons, regardless of vaccination status, must wear face coverings while in indoor public settings, venues, gatherings, and businesses. Please see the full LACDPH revised Health Officer Order issued July 16, 2021.

The reinstated mandate applies to all Azusa Pacific University facilities and indoor activities and programs, including regional campuses, starting at midnight on Saturday, July 17. Students living in university housing do not need to wear face coverings when they are in their units alone or with their roommates; if any visitors enter the housing unit, all persons present in the unit at the time must wear a face covering.

Face coverings will be made available to you if you do not have one. All other guidance in Dr. Megan Prosser’s June 22, 2021, Return to Campus update to the community remains in effect. Please consult that message and Destination APU for ongoing updates and guidance.

Thank you for your cooperation with this mandate. This is an opportunity for us all to exemplify our care for one another and our neighbors as we prioritize our safety and that of the surrounding communities.
