Joyce Gomez-Najarro completed a bachelor’s degree in communication studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2005. While attending UCLA, she became involved in Bruin Corps, where she mentored and tutored young learners in the Los Angeles community. Afterward, she earned her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at California State University, Fullerton. Joyce served as a teacher, lead instructor, and reading coordinator within the Clark County School District, in Las Vegas, Nevada, for several years before obtaining her Ph.D. in Urban Education at the University of Southern California. Her work in classrooms, and in research, reflects a commitment to ensuring that teachers are prepared to serve diverse student populations.
