Housing for Sophomores
Students who need to secure a housing assignment for their sophomore year should participate in the housing sign-ups process. Download the How to Obtain Housing for Next Year (PDF) to find out how to secure campus housing.
Because the residential experience so strongly supports the mission of APU, all traditional undergraduate students are required to live in campus housing for their freshman and sophomore years. Studies have shown that students who live in campus housing perform better academically, are more likely to graduate, and are generally more satisfied with their college experience than those who live off campus or commute. Living in a Residence Life community with peers, having quick access to campus resources, and enjoying the opportunity to further develop personally and academically are just a few reasons why living in campus housing is fundamental for success as a freshman or sophomore at APU.
Sophomores who live with their parent(s) locally, are over 21, are married, have part-time status, or have other special circumstances that present an obstacle to campus residency must complete the Request for Campus Housing Exemption Form in order to be considered for an exemption from the housing requirement. Submit this by the end of the spring semester for the upcoming academic year.
To request housing for the spring semester or in the middle of a term, students should submit a Request For Campus Housing Assignment Form (PDF) to the Office of Residence Life.
