John Muir Favorite Quote Writing Contest
The APU University Libraries Special Collections, in partnership with the English Department, invites all students to submit an essay for entry into the John Muir Favorite Quote Writing Contest. The essay format will be a personal reflection on one quote by John Muir. Cash prizes will be awarded and sections of the winning essays will be posted in digital format.
The entries must use one quote selected from the ten that are currently on display in the Darling Library exhibit, John Muir: A Centennial Remembrance 1914 -2014, which runs until December 15, 2014. Deadline to enter is November 25, 2014. Winners will be announced December 5, 2014.
The written essays can be submitted electronically and will be judged by the co-curators of the exhibits, including Research Historian, Dr. Thomas F. Andrews and will be limited to 750 words. Tell us why you chose the quote and what it means to you and how it expands your view of the wilderness. Check with your faculty member to see if you can get extra credit for this (along with a cash prize!).
