Hoy's expertise helps safeguard APU's athletes from injury. She has served nearly 20 years at Azusa Pacific University, including three years as president of the NAIA Athletic Trainers Association (2004-07) and another three as the NAIA-ATA officer's role as past president (2007-10). She served on the Cramer Sports Medicine National Advisory Council from 2007-07 and as the district and regional chair for the National Athletic Training Association (NATA) College and University Athletic Trainers in 2011. Currently, Hoy oversees APU's student-athlete participation in the most comprehensive study of concussion and head-impact exposure ever conducted. This research is part of a joint $30 million initiative by the NCAA and the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) called the Grand Alliance.
