If you’ve gone to a party store to buy balloons for a graduation or birthday recently, you may have been turned away and you’re not alone. Many stores are severely impacted by the current global helium shortage, the third of the past decade. To help examine the reasons behind the shortage and the significance of helium as a resource, Spectrum News recently interviewed Louise Huang, Ph.D.,, assistant dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and director of the Center for Research in Science at Azusa Pacific University. Huang is a chemist and an expert in environmental sustainability and stewardship.
