What:

Azusa Pacific University celebrates the launch of its new Games and Interactive Media program by serving as a host site for Global Game Jam, a worldwide gaming challenge that provides a unique opportunity for people to create, collaborate and practice their game making skills. Individuals of any skill level are invited to take part. Participants work concurrently around the globe, rallying around a central theme, then have 48 hours to create a game. Many games developed in previous Game Jams have become fully realized. Soma Games, a Christian gaming company from Oregon, will open the event. Participants will receive free meals courtesy of Chick-fil-A, Starbucks and Jimmy John's.

Azusa Pacific University will launch a new Bachelor of Arts and minor program in Games and Interactive Media, beginning fall 2019. The first of its kind among the 140 universities that comprise the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities, APU's program combines story and play, providing core competencies in the cultural, theoretical, artistic, and narrative aspects of game design and interactive media.
