St. Lucy’s Priory High School in Glendora is partnering with Azusa Pacific University to create a pathway to college for its students. The two schools signed a memorandum of understanding during a ceremony on the APU campus on November 29. This agreement provides St. Lucy’s High School students who meet admissions requirements with guaranteed admittance to APU, a $10,000 renewable scholarship, application fee waiver, and support with the application process.

“This wonderful partnership enabled by the generosity of APU will provide valuable opportunities for the students at St. Lucy’s to pursue their college education in a faith-filled environment, which values academic excellence,” said St. Lucy’s Principal Robyn Carroll.

The agreement begins fall 2019. Incoming high school freshmen who successfully follow the academic pathway all four years will be eligible.

Several St. Lucy’s graduates who are currently students at APU attended the partnership ceremony, including Erin Gaffney ’21, a psychology and humanities major. “Making an APU education accessible for St. Lucy’s graduates is the most exciting result of this partnership,” said Gaffney. “Through my education first at St. Lucy’s, and now at APU, I have learned the value of serving my community. Both schools have enabled me to grow in my faith and put it into action. I’m happy these two schools will work together.”

“APU enjoys a special connection with St Lucy’s, both in proximity and in our shared mission to provide our students with an academically rigorous, faith-based education that equips them to make a difference in the world,” said President Jon R. Wallace, DBA. “Many St. Lucy’s graduates choose to attend APU, and through this partnership, we hope to see even more of their students join our university.”
